Memories
I've had a few conversations and read a number of articles recently about memories. Some of the conclusions tie in with my anecdotal experience of lockdown, and that it has made time a bit, well, schlonky. It seems to be a consequence of the days all running into one another and being very similar. The overriding suggestion is that we need experiences to give us memories and reinforce our sense of time passing.
In fact, only today Dan and I were trying to remember last summer and I realised how much our daily walks contributed to there being some structure to the year: we could remember places we'd been and things we'd done, like swimming in the Lune.
Buying the house in Salford was definitely one event on which I can hang memories and thus gain some sense of time, as were the times we went out between the lockdowns although, of course, that was a return to (something like) normal life.
The Minx battled a bit with this lack of distinct experience during January and has decided to tackle it head on in February with her #28loaves project, baking a loaf for a different friend each day. Today it was my turn!
