Pastry treats
Gym visit for JR, and torture session at BodyStreet for me. I then went into town to return a pair of shoes. I was going to get the bus home, being very hot and very bothered, but persuaded myself to walk with the promise of an ice cream in the Grassmarket. Mary’s Milk Bar, I knew, was closed on Mondays, but there is now another wee ice cream shop, which is always open. And so I sat in the sun and watched everyone coming and going.
I felt too tired (and it was too hot) that the thought of going up the Vennel Steps and across the Meadows home was just too far!
So I cut across town and picked up my bus on Lothian Road, which was still pretty far, but none of it was uphill. In fact, I passed a Greek pastry shop, with lots of delightful, small, tasty nutty goodies. I was lured in and got a wee few to take home.
When I eventually got home, I sat out in the sun with JR, Archie and a cold beer. Archie had been out with Beatrice for a big walk.
We’ll watch another couple of episodes of ‘Mare of Easttown’ tonight. (Who would call a baby ‘Mare’?) - Her mother called her ‘Marianne’ at one point…
