Album Cover: Steady by the Mono Mondays
Folkestone is rather like a curate’s egg (how did that phrase come about?) in that parts of it are very pleasant indeed - others still work in progress.
The Harbour Arm and the Harbour Station is very interesting and a very welcome addition to the town’s amenities. As is the boardwalk across the shingle. The cultural quarter and the Leas are also places well worth visiting.
On the downside it’s fiendishly challenging when pushing a wheelchair. Cobbles and blocks make uncomfortable riding as do uneven pavements, lack of drop kerbs and tables on pavements. It’s almost impossible to get a wheelchair to the beach area. And the lift from the walkway to the street was out of order. Impossible to find disabled parking.
From Folkestone we drove to The Pilot at Dungeness for fish and chip (for most of us). Our first visit since the beginning of November last year. They didn’t disappoint.
We had a quick walk across the shingle (main blip) and went to look at Derek Jarman’s property nearby. It looked very fine in the evening light. His place is an extra.
Thanks to Majoayee for hosting mono Monday: Steady.
