Convoy!
We met these 3 boaters in Leeds Dock - Mick 1, Mick 2 and Ernie. They are the guys who shifted their boats up to make room for the hire boat that had come down with us from Apperley Bridge.
A nicer bunch of men you couldn't wish to meet. We have stuck together all the way down to Pollington sharing locks and mooring alongside each other along the way. The 2 Micks each have a cabin cruiser and Ernie has a narrowboat. Bella has fallen in love with Mick 1 :-D.
We are on the Knottingley/Goole canal on the Aire and Calder navigation.
Along the tow path there are large nest boxes on poles at regular intervals. I'm not sure what kind of birds nest in them but I wonder if they are for owls.
Sabrina told me today that her friend and colleague at the prison has Covid. She woke up with severe pain in her neck and phoned in sick (thank God!) She then got a runny nose and a fever which turned into a bad head cold. She tested positive. She's already had her 2 vaccinations. Just goes to show - we're not safe yet. If she had gone into work it would have spread.
It's young Arlo's 9th Birthday today. We just phoned him to sing down the phone - probably much to his embarrassment!
I watched the Great British Sewing Bee last night and wasn't surprised when Serena won - what an amazing seamstress. However the other 2 semifinalists were excellent too and I did feel for them. I think it's been the best 'Bee' to date. So inspirational.
What will I do on a Wednesday night now?
Maybe sew? :-D
The weather wasn't nearly as bad as forecasted. It rained in the night but has been lovely all day and not too hot.
More tomorrow
