Life in Cornwall & other stuff

In a land, land, land, far away............... 1997 to be precise, my very lovely owner, Ann came to Cornwall (from Edinburgh) for 6 months. …...............20 years later she was still here.

Obviously I wasn't thought about because I wasn't even born until the end of 2018.

Very, very, very, long story short. Ann bought a flat in Edinburgh in 1991 (where has that 30 years gone?). It was rented out for a long time but she never ever thought about selling it. It is mega close to every single amenity that you would ever want and there's a lift and car parking and a balcony. And then 5 years ago it was 'decision time'........................ Sell it or refurbish it. After it being rented out for 20 years it looked like it had rising damp (though obv as it was a fourth floor it didn't.) The tenants just hadn't ventilated the property.

Long story short – 5 years ago Ann totally refurbed it – and then she decided she didn't want anyone else in it. So now we've been trying to live between St Ives & Edinburgh.

In 2019 Ann made the decision that Edinburgh was going to be our main home (because her social life was so much better). And then just as we were due to come down to our St Ives home in March 2020 we got locked down and so we only actually spent 5 weeks in St Ives last year.

…............We're trying to rectify that this year. We were here for a month in April and we're here for a month now and we're hoping to come for a month in September.

…...............And now Ann's thinking she should re-evaluate her life. Is a city where we really want to be. The whole lock down thing is really difficult.
Ann thought she loved it in Edinburgh because she had a load more friends there and had a much better social life. And yet in St Ives, the weather is better so everyone is just out and about a lot more and so life feels a lot more normal. Even though we've been by ourselves for the last couple of days; we don't feel isolated. …..........We've felt very isolated in Edinburgh during the last 18 months.

Mmmmm.................. Ann's probably got more friends in Edinburgh, but when I go out on my walks in St Ives, I definitely meet a lot more people than I ever do in Edinburgh.

Getting fed up of rambling on now.

We're in St Ives and we love it. Having said that, when we're back in Edinburgh, we're sure we'll love that too.

Toodles.

This is a photo of me with Porthmeor Beach in the background.  I LOVE running around on beaches,
