Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Goodbye 2021!

Hazel come over this morning to fill us in on her Christmas sojourn in London with her son. This included a wonderful Christmas Carol concert in the Royal Albert Hall. We were, as Hazel says - ‘Well Jell ‘.

We then went out for a walk, though as usual, I gave up fairly soon and came home, while the others went further, much further. The day was mild and still. I came home and listened to a good couple of chapters of my book.

Hazel came over again in the evening, though we had no intention of even making it to the bells (haven’t seen in a New Year for many years). As there was the usual rubbish on TV, we watched a recorded programme about the Absolutely Fabulous duo, Eddie and Patsy, on their trip to the champagne region. This was technically research, as we have booked a similar trip for spring next year, though not much was Learned. Fingers crossed we make it…

We made use of a nifty wee Christmas present from our neighbours - the little mice toothpick thingies. Hence the chopped up cheeses.

11pm. Hazel has departed home. Just might make it to the bells - we’ve had a coffee, and we’re watching Alan Cummings in the Outer Hebrides. Honestly, just about everybody who is anybody has travelled there this year. But this one is quite interesting and informative.

Happy New Year everyone! It must be better than 2021.
