Elizabeth took Archie out for his big walk, and the weather wasn’t too bad. Though I had no intention of going out in it. Until, that is, a phone call from the shop where my two pairs of shoes had arrived. So I hot-footed it down town, which was a bit of a mistake, as of course, I forgot - town was getting ready for Hogmanay. Buses diverted all over the shop, Princes Street closed off, barriers everywhere.
I picked up my shoes, and after a wander round the funfair below the castle, I got my bus home, with not too long to wait. Though I did hop on the wrong bus because I was helping a woman to find where to get the 22, most buses were going different routes. On my bus app, there was no sign of the 22 anywhere. Hope she got home all right.
In the evening we popped over for a wee glass of bubbly with Hazel and her friend I, whom we’ve never met. A most pleasant evening was enjoyed, despite a broken Soho House plate (not me!)
We came home and had a steak for tea. Haven’t had one for ages. I got some mushrooms on the way home from town - yummmy.
No, didn’t make it to midnight. I haven’t made it to the bells (as we still say here, despite no bells) for many a long year. But I did hear the fireworks. Hope everyone had a great time, it’s been three years without our famous Hogmanay.
Wishing everyone a happy New Year!
