Diary of an Edinburgher

Dean Village

I took a notion today to get my exercise bike out. When I go to physio again, I’d like to be able to say, honestly, that I’m doing this.

Then I spent a good hour on the phone to Virgin Media. The television refuses to spring to life. I did all the usual things, and unplugged the box etc, to no avail. I eventually got through to a very-hard-to-understand chap who assured me he would fix it. After about 10 minutes or so, he admitted that he couldn’t, but he’d booked a technician for tomorrow. At 8am.

Also had a phone call from the doctor re coming in for blood tests - booked for next week.

Then we decided to go and locate a travel company whose activity holidays (photography, cooking, painting etc) we have often perused, because we realised they were based here in Edinburgh.

Bus down for all of us to the West End. We haven’t been to Dean Village for ages, so that was a bonus. There are so many wee unexpected vistas (Extra). We then walked along the river to Stockbridge - it wasn’t too far - where I got a bus right home. And would you believe it - when I got to the bus stop… my bus was in TWO minutes. I do love that! The others walked all the way home! (4, 482 steps for me - but it felt like much more!)

It’s a quiet night here, as we both have our iPads on to watch the news, listen to podcasts etc of our choice, with our respective earpods in.

I cooked ‘Sage crusted pork steaks with roasted potatoes and parsnips, spring greens, and plum gravy’ - delicious.

PS I’ve been waiting for months to write this:

NEXT MONTH we’ll be going on a cruise!!
