Diary of an Edinburgher

Bin Find Number 162

Day Two of the new fitness regime… I went ‘swimming’ again. Just pootering about, really, with the occasional burst of my version of ‘freestyle’. But it was a teensy bit busier than I like, and so I had to try to keep out of the way of normal swimmers.

It may have been my imagination, but there always seemed to be a staff member walking on the side, near me. They do patrol all the time, of course. But when I hauled myself out, I actually read the notices which are clearly displayed ‘No non or weak swimmers beyond this point’… that’s me! I’m definitely a ‘weak swimmer’! And so I will give it up for a while, or wait till they have a special ‘weak swimmers only’ day.

I then went to the gym, the long way round, up and down LOADS of stairs. So by the time I got to the cross trainer, I was stuffed anyway. But it IS a killer, even when I’m feeling sprightly. I could only manage 10 minutes. And only 5 minutes each on the treadmill and the low bike. Though I also did arm and leg exercises. I bussed both ways, so that added to my step count - 7,295 today.

When I came home, I was delighted to discover that JR had made muffins (we have visitors tomorrow). I was just ready for that wee treat.

Robert and Archie arrived back, later than usual (they’d sat for a while by the duck pond in the sun), so we discussed the depressing state of world affairs, including the flooding in Australia (Robert has family connections in Oz).

I took Archie on his stroll this morning - JR had a wee lie in on her ‘day off’. I was tempted to bring this nice yellow suitcase home, but perhaps obviously the locks are not working…
