Same Tree, Different Viewpoints
We were pleased to see the weatherman was correct again. The ground was barely covered in an April snow when we looked out the window at dawn. I foolishly went out in my gown and no socks in the windy 34° F weather to snag a few photos before the snow melted. We had another quiet day, reminiscing about childhood memories in both generations. My mother recounted events that she could still “hear” or “see” at her parents’ and grandparents’ homes. She told us about a foreign prince who stayed at her grandparents’ hotel on the Chesapeake Bay and all the hoopla they went through. It snowed, rained and sleeted on and off all day and we expect more this evening. The heaviest snow accumulation is in the above photos. We enjoyed birdwatching, reading and occasional napping. Our mother is crocheting snowflake ornaments and working crosswords by the fireplace. My sister and I prepared our standing rib roast yesterday. We just popped it in the oven with baking potatoes. Adding steamed broccoli, we have another easy peasy meal on tap. Our MD neighbor has sent us multiple progress photos of our shingles removal project. He just sent an update; the contractor is almost finished installing the new ones. My biggest concern is the trauma our kitties will experience with the constant nail gun noise. At least they are staying on the middle level while we are away. Sending wishes that you have a quiet restful week. Thanks for your stars and nice comments on my mother’s photo. Sounds like the war is going to escalate if the article I received is correct. If only wishes could come true…. “How strange it is, sometimes, which conversations or events stay with us while so much else melts as fast as April snow.” - Marlena De Blasi
