Orange and lime icecream
It’s another wet grey day so rather than waste what might be a better day later in the week - well tomorrow or the next day - we decided to sort out packing for our trip on Friday. We are allowed 10kg each plus a small rucksack. We don’t have case/bags that size so Mr C is taking a slightly bigger wheely soft bag with handles for us both. That means we can both take small day sacs too as hand luggage. We are faffing about as it is 2 years past Feb since we were last on a plane, plus we have not been on a guided holiday before apart from trekking. Also this is going to be very budget. We’re expecting to be the oldest of the 12.
Mindful that we’ll be away, I have been trying to use up what’s in the fridge. We had some cream left over from the weekend so I beat it into some icing sugar and orange and lime zest and juice to make this ice cream, my blip for today. It was a bit sweet for me but an interesting experiment.
Ella and Nathaniel have had no ill effects from their big wet walk yesterday. They and their parents have gone to Edinburgh on the train for a couple of nights. They’ve been to the art gallery where they admired the Campbell Sisters, then the Scott Monument and a game of football in the gardens before lunch at David Bann. The children loved the food there. I do too.
It’s so cold we have put on the heating. Dennis has texted to ask when he can next come to visit - I had a look and we don’t have a free few days till October.
