Today's the day ....................... to undo

A trip up to Edinburgh today to see good friends John and Roma - and for us all to go to a performance of Macbeth (an undoing) at The Lyceum.  This version of the Shakespeare play was written and directed by Zinnie Harris - who is famous for her re-imagining of classic texts, bringing the perspectives of their female characters centre stage.  

Shakespeare's iconic Lady Macbeth was ruthless and driven, unstoppable in her pursuit of power yet she quickly descended into madness and despair.  Zinnie Harris' version undoes the story we know and remakes it, examining Lady Macbeth's trajectory, asking if we have really heard the whole story?  It was a compelling and thrilling adaptation that kept you on the edge of your seat throughout - with excellent performances from a stellar cast.  

It's on at The Lyceum until 25th February - and if at all possible, I would urge you to go and see it .......................!
