Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A day of two halfs

What a nice day we had! Would have been nicer if it hadn't been freezing cold, windy and cloudy all morning... but thank goodness by about midday the sun broke through and we had a beautiful summery afternoon. Archie had a bonus walk with Elizabeth for the day.

We walked across to visit the Degree Show. I was totally unimpressed, as usual (except for some costume designs). The 'highlight' was a few rugs with paint spilled on them... That's the culmination of three or four years' study??

We then walked to my favourite cafe which has the best playlist in town (quiet, laid back jazz). Time to walk to Argyle Place for lunch, where we were all very happy with our choices.

In the afternoon, when the sun finally appeared, we were able to sit in the back garden, Elizabeth and Archie joined us. We then popped over to sit in Hazel’s sunny lounge. She had left a bottle of bubbly in the fridge for us, bless her. It’s SO nice to have a sunny afternoon lounge.

Tea outside in the evening sunshine. Now watching Scotland's Home of the Year, as we're all interested in such things (and quite critical...)
