People Get Ready

All set up for tonight’s gig, well in advance of our 10pm start time. I did have the option of not going through until 8 and setting up later but it was so wet and miserable in Kendal that I figured I might as well pop through to Barrow and do something useful, rather than just sit in front of the telly all afternoon, staring at the rain.
Not one of my favourite venues though - two flights of stairs to haul everything up and the bass bins are damn heavy. Though not quite as heavy as the new, flightcased, mixer which needed two of us to get it up the concert room and on to the stage!
Despite the fact that it means a second trip to Barrow, I’ve come home now to get some tea, have a kip (not necessarily in that order) and put on a clean shirt, before heading back there for about 9.30. Not sure whether we’ll be doing two short sets or one longer one, because the venue does have a rigidly enforced curfew.
And then all we have to do is carry everything back down two flights of stairs and put it in the van…
