Spiraea japonica

Today's the day ........................ for a favourite

This gorgeously exuberant plant grows everywhere in our garden and never fails to bring joy.  It is Spiraea japonica - a deciduous, perennial shrub, native to Japan, China, and Korea.

At this time of the year, it is absolutely covered in these pink and white flowers that will last until late autumn.  By then the leaves will have turned all shades of yellow to red.  It doesn't seem to require any special care.  If it gets too big, cut it right back in the spring and it will reward you with lots of new, colourful growth before it bursts into flower again.

It's a plant that just keeps on giving .........................!
