Cold, Sad Yet Uplifting
It was with a hint of incredulity we looked at the dash information around 2:00am to see it reading -11*. We were passing through the lowlands of Scotland, a white ghostly landscape in the car headlights yet with the roads clear of snow and ice and almost deserted of traffic we were making good time.
We arrived in Forres just before 8:00am, good to see Tiana and drink hot coffee, not from a vending machine and not in a cardboard or plastic cup. We sat and dozed for most of the day, coming awake to chat with Tiana and unpack.
Tiana left around 5:30pm leaving Mrs S and I to shower and change then follow her to Forres & Findorn Parish Church for the Kinloss Military Wives Choir “Coming Home For Christmas” concert.
Just prior to leaving I received a phone call from Falmouth, absolutely awful news, it knocked the wind out of me and reduced Mrs S and Sam to tears. I then needed to phone Joshua in Sweden before he saw the news on social media.
Sandy’s passing will be the subject of tomorrows ‘Blip’
We thoroughly enjoyed the concert, I have nothing but admiration for those who stand onstage and perform in front of strangers. We did well in the raffle and mince pie stakes and enjoyed seeing Tiana’s parents, Elliot and Fay, even if only briefly.
We made our way home via the Spar shop, two ‘Scotch’ pies later I no longer felt hungry.
Climbing into bed tired, sad at the news of Sandy but uplifted by the music of Tiana’s concert.
It’s been a tough day and a long one.
