The Day of Giving Thanks...2013

Thanksgiving day. The day of the 4 f's. 1.Faith 2.Family. Fun. 4. Football.

1.God is good 2. We had a nice family dinner today with a special visit from my niece who lives in Virginia. 3. The young boys had some block-building fun. 4. Our Detroit Lions defeated the Green Bay Packers. We sent them home to the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.

Merrick is in the upper left...his cousin Caleb is giving the hang-loose sign, and his other cousin Ryan is working his computer. Also in the picture...our honeymooning daughter Julie's dog...Sadie...looking like the tryptophan from the turkey was working its magic.

Our dinner was mouth-watering, with everybody kicking in something...but my sister Terrie out-did herself. Dressing, sweet potatoes, pecan pie, and REAL whipped cream. Lisa made green bean casserole, and a dessert, and I did my usual...cutting up the taters, carving the bird, and cutting up the fresh pineapple. Deeeeeelicious.

Got a nice text from my daughter this morning (the one that was here today)...saying how she wished she were 8 years old again, and cuddled up in bed watching the Thanksgiving Day parade. Those WERE special times. Twice we went down to the big city (Detroit) to see the parade in person. Nice...but usually cold.

Missed our daughter and new S-I-L who are in Vegas, and missed our son and other S-I-L...who are up north deer hunting.
