Sky on Fire

Incredible sky first thing this morning, a ribbon of low, mottled cloud moving towards the rising sun. I struggled for a location to shoot the scene, driving first in one direction, then turning round to go in the opposite. In the end I plumped for the canal and a reflection.

Technical: 3 Stop ND Grad to hold back the lighter part of the sky. Post processing in Photoshop with a black and white luminosity layer to increase the detail in the sky and reflection, toned down as it tends to bleach the scene. Shadow detail is also lifted by using this luminosity layer but shoadows also needed elevating slightly in Lightroom.
