How can it be that after a day of taking pictures at picture-worthy events and places I still end up blipping a gull.

My daughter and I spent some time at the Anacortes Art Fair today, a delightful collection of vendors selling everything imaginable. This is an annual 3-day event that most northwest Washingtonians never miss. Despite the heat and the crowds it was fun and then we met up with Mark2013 and had lunch which turned out to be more fun than one would expect a lunch to be because of a waiter that was either hung over or grieving the recent loss of a beloved dog. I went for the latter excuse – Mark went for the former.

On the way home we stopped for a photo-op at Padilla Bay where I met this gull. We were all sorry we didn’t have a car full of bread scraps, but we made a couple of them happy with a few shelled peanuts. We drove home over Chuckanut Drive which has been described, and rightly so, as one of the most beautiful drives in the United States.

So, after the art fair with all its colorful characters and atmosphere, some spectacular views of Mt. Baker from the Skagit Valley, the drive back up the mountain via Chuckanut Drive, I end up with a gull blip. Go figure.
